God's Way Is Love

Read Ezekiel 33:1 through 35:15

Published: Aug 19, 2017

When the Jennings family got up to sing with the choir, several people gave them hateful stares. One woman said, “We hired professional vocalists to do the singing. That family simply doesn’t belong!”

Mr. Jennings had grown up in that church feeling loved. But, when area population shifted from poor laborers to wealthy executives, he was no longer welcome. Eventually, the Jennings family left the church.

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: See, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak sheep with your horns until you have driven them away” (Ezekiel 34:20–21).

In Ezekiel’s time, God called His children to love their brethren. Generations later, Jesus said, “Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) So why do some people still choose to hate? First John 4:8 has the answer: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

Challenge for Today: Be an example of God’s love, so people who don’t yet know Him will seek the love they see and find salvation.

Quicklook: Ezekiel 34:17–24
